Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge
Now, I love the original Fashionistas. It’s a perfect marriage of fetish, story, and sex. I actually cared about the sexual tension between Belladonna and Rocco in that movie. The very idea of bringing them together — Rocco, the god of fuck, who always appears to leave even veteran porn stars exhausted and wrung-out, and Belladonna, the incredibly-flexible starlet who can seemingly take anything — was genius. So I was both hopeful and doubtful about watching the sequel, the awkwardly titled Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge.
It’s not as good as Fashionistas. But few films are, so I’ll now drop that comparison, and try to take the movie on its own merits. So: a twenty minute opening scene of a fetish fashion show, complete with acrobats and various performances that seem lifted from Cirque du Soleil? Cool for three minutes, then boring. A big orgy with women in latex? Yes, nice! Belladonna walking around said orgy in a smoking hot skintight outfit, and then not having sex with anyone? Not nice! Later there’s another giant orgy scene, which is much like the first, though Belladonna at least gets involved in that one. Rocco has a very good three-way with Jenna Haze and Gianna. There’s a weird section with Rocco looking at a website and seeing various vignettes of people in assorted forms of bondage, without much in the way of actual sex, which is variously hot and boring and weird. Rocco and Belladonna finally fuck in the last scene, and it’s good, but it’s also woefully short. Overall, there’s a good movie buried in this one, and editing it down to, say, somewhere south of four hours in length might have helped bring that good movie out. As it stands, this is definitely a movie to watch with one finger hovering over the fast-forward button on the remote. Unless you have a deep and abiding love for latex and BDSM gear, that is. Hell, even then you’ll probably want to fast-forward past a fair bit of it. I’m trying to be excited about the fact that this is really only half a movie, with part two, Fashionistas Safado: Berlin to follow and complete the story. I just hope it’s a tighter flick overall.
This is an ambitious movie, but it’s kind of a mess, poorly paced, though with enough incredibly hot sex to keep me watching. I know I said I’d stop with the comparisons to the first movie, but . . . I knew Fashionistas. This, alas, is no Fashionistas.
