Tuesday Tweet Roundup

Welcome to the Tuesday Tweet Roundup! This is a collection of a few of our favorite or most popular recent tweets for the Twitterphobic, with extra commentary for those who read them the first time around. If you’re on Twitter and would like to follow us, we’re @BlowfishTwitter.

We paid homage to our geeky roots (at least, many of us have geeky roots) with a tweet that only the Joss Wheadon fans might get:

Whoever dreamed up this picture never saw the TV premiere of Firefly: http://bit.ly/avEN7U

Since some of you asked, the first episode shown on TV of the series Firefly has a scene near the end where (SPOILER ALERT) the main hero character Mal responds to the bad guy’s threat to hunt him down wherever he goes by kicking said bad guy into the the spaceship’s engine intake. We don’t know about you, but that scene has made us incredibly nervous around the engines of all aircraft, and posing nude in front of one seems like a really bad idea.

We’re sort of proud of making the story about the roadside Jesus statue attraction getting hit by lightening into a sex story:

What happens when Jesus gets into electrical stimulation play: http://bit.ly/d2Adxo

We spent far too long reading through these two blog posts about the writer’s visit to Japan’s sex shops. It’s a few years old, but it’s well-written and the stuff he found is absolutely captivating:

The amazing things you can buy in Japan: http://bit.ly/C2wti and http://bit.ly/S9vjS

There was a bit of controversy over our tweet about the anti-rape condom:

Wow! Female condom w/ teeth fights rape: http://bit.ly/995mCs

For the record, we didn’t think it will prevent rape, but the existence of such a thing might serve as a deterrent in the future. Some followers pointed out that even as a deterrent this has problems: once a rapist knows a woman might be wearing one, he could possibly use a device to remove it. And, in the case of multiple attackers, it leaves the woman even more vulnerable to escalated violence. We agree this is a problematic item, but we still think that the effort and good intentions that went into designing such a device is laudable. Perhaps this is only a prototype that will inspire a more effective product in the future!

We’ll wrap this up with a more light-hearted tweet; take a nice long look at a very, very, very fine male derriere:

We’d say something witty, but we’re too mesmerized by his ADORABLE ass: http://bit.ly/b5W8iw
