Greta,
This makes so much sense. It's an analogue that I intend to spread as it gets at the heart of many issues, including aging.

Just the other night, I dreamt of a world where you would go to sleep never quite knowing what skin color or gender you were going to wake up in. How might that change our stereotypes and ism's (race, sex, heterosex)?

To a balanced diet!

This is a great take on sex! I love the analogy. :)

The syncronicity of this article struck me because I have been exploring polyamory and have been noticing songs that can be listened to with a poly ear. There are few (popular, on the radip) songs that are outwardly poly, at least as far as I know. But there are some fun songs that, if you are listening to them with a mind to multiple relationships, they can sound poly-ish.

It's been a fun search. I eventually want to put together a playlist and share it with people.

I've actually used a food analogy like Adrian to try to describe why I enjoy the "brand" of sex I enjoy. The idea that the majority of the population is fine with meatloaf and potato chips (vanilla sex) but a special few enjoy filet mignon and creme brulee (swingers, BDSM, other Alt sex). But its all food and we all need it!

I'd like to introduce Rule 38b: If it exists, there's a song about it.

Interesting. I've always been struck by the analogies with food, myself. I mean, we basically need food to live; but there are foodies, there are professional chefs, there are poeple who care very much about taking the time and trouble to make the best, most apetising meals they can - and there are people who'll eat whatever's put in front of them without thinking too much about it. Different countries have distinctive food cultures - and some people relish food that others consider disgusting. And, unlike with music (most of the time) there are moral judgements aplenty. Religions can be as hung up about people's food preferences as they are about sex.

Having a meal can be a beautiful, private experience with someone you love. But creating fabulous meals is also an art-form. I'd like to see sex professionals treated with the same respect as star chefs - they're both using their skills to bring sensual pleasure, after all.

First, I like your analogy to music. However, I think the term 'sex' is overused. The real power is what is, and is not erotic. Animals have sex. Only humans experience what we call the erotic. It can be expressed and enjoyed in many ways-like music. In fact, it does not even require physical contact. However, for heterosexuals it does depend on a masculine-feminine polarity. This creates energy-like a battery.

I do have one question concerning your vision of a "sexual world." Is there a place in it for children and, if so, to what extent? I'm not a pedophile and the question is purely academic.

I'd never thought of sex in quite that way, but rather as a sort of stand alone thing. Your way instantly made sense to me because I recognized that I'd gone through several stages in both music and sex.
Thanks for the attitude expanding view that you've proposed.
