“No, Longer! Slicker!”

Dear Blowfish,

Wet Platinum Premium Body Glide

I’m looking for a lube to use with a technique I recently learned. It involves lightly stroking a woman’s clitoris for 15 minutes straight, or longer. Are there any lubes that you can recommend that would be suitable for that type of endeavor?

You’re right in thinking that a water-based lube is going to start getting sticky well before the end of your 15 minute stroke session. We’d recommend a pure silicone based lube like Eros Bodyglide or Wet Platinum. These are made from premium quality liquid silicone and won’t come off until you wipe it or wash it off. That being said, 15 minutes of friction is a lot of rubbing for any lube. If your lady friend is not supplying any of her own, natural wetness, you could find that you’ll need to reapply a drop or two partway through the session.

We don’t recommend oil-based lubes like Vaseline. While very slippery and often used for anal play, oil based lubes irritate the vagina and can cause all sorts of problems internally.

V’tae Natural Lavender Lotion

V'tae Natural Lavender Lotion

Living in the Bay Area, it seems that everyone is going “green”. For those in a not-so-environmentally-conscious area, this means using earth-friendly products, growing plants organically, and paying attention to the things we put in, and on, our bodies. Blowfish has always been pretty green, and we’re certainly concerned with the things you are putting in and on your body. That’s one of the reasons we are still selling the V’tae Natural Lavender Lotion. Made from organic lavender (among other organic things) and produced by folks who don’t use parabens in their formulations, this lotion is a staple in our office any time we need to soften our rough edges, so to speak. We know that our loyal customers like using top quality toys, lubes, and other supplies, so why stop there? Put something good for you on your skin and the rest of your body will thank you. Besides, the V’tae Lavender Lotion comes in a pretty purple bottle with a pump top and makes one heck of a Mother’s Day gift. (Yes, Mother’s Day is this Sunday. If you can’t get her a set of anal beads, good lotion is always appreciated and shouldn’t make her blush too much at Mother’s Day brunch.)

A (pH) Balanced Approach

Dear Blowfish,

Pre-Seed

I could use your help finding good lubes that are the correct pH for women.

Most lube companies don’t give their distributors very much information on lube pH, so I am afraid I don’t have very much info for you. Pre-Seed, a fertility-friendly lube is the only formula we sell that goes as far as mentioning that the pH is balanced to a woman’s vagina (although it does not say what pH, exactly). The pH of silicone lubes may not be as much of an issue as it is for water-based varieties as silicone does not react with the body and should not influence your yeast or bacteria levels.

Happy playing!

Sliquid Sassy Water-Based Gel Lubricant

Sliquid Sassy Water-Based Gel Lubricant

Anal lube for the ladies? My mother would be appalled to hear of such a thing (or at least pretend to be, in mixed company). We think, however, that it’s about freaking time that someone put their nose to the grinding stone and pumped out some booty formula that makes us purdy girls drop to all fours and stick our asses in the air in anticipation. Sliquid Sassy Water-Based Gel Lubricant is a paraben-free, glycerine-free lube that has no flavor, no color, no nonoxynol-9, and well, nothing but the slippery good stuff. While it was created as a thick gel lube to stay in place during hard thrusting, I use it for all my sex; vaginal, anal, and oral. Because there is no glycerine in the formula, I don’t have to worry about it gunking up my pussy with weird sugars that may cause a yeast problem and no flavors mean I can easily drop down for some oral action mid-play without getting a toungeful of chemical flavors. Also, this lube works swimmingly with toys because it stays where you put it, even if where you are putting it is on the slippery lip of a glass toy. Or, you know, places a little bit more . . . bootylicious.

Slip ‘n’ Slide! Alll About Silicone Lubes

Wet Platinum Premium Body Glide

Love the podcast, although everything discussed is not our cup of tea, it’s very informative and an eye opener sometimes! Don’t ever stop.

My question is regarding silicone based lubricants. Because my wife and I were looking for a lubricant that would retain it’s lubrication for a longer period of time, we tried the Sliquid Silk and other various water-based lubes. Unfortunately they seemed to “dry out” and become sticky after a while. “Reactivate by adding water” is fine, but not always practical. Which silicone based lubricant has the longest “staying power” (or for that matter, which lubricant is the slipperiest for longest)?

You are looking for a lube like Wet Platinum Premium Body Glide. This lube stays wet until you rinse (or wipe) it off. Unlike the Sliquid Satin which is half water-based lube/half silicone, there is no water in Wet Platinum Premium Body Glide so there is nothing to be absorbed by the body, it just keeps on gliding. (We should note that this lube shouldn’t be used on silicone toys as it could bond with the toy surface.) You can find it, and Eros Bodyglide (the “original” high quality silicone lube — both are fantastic) at these links:

Kama Sutra Body Soufflé Cream, Chocolate Creme Brulee

Kama Sutra Body Soufflé Cream, Chocolate Creme Brulee

A few years ago, my mother sent me and my partner a Valentines’s Day present. While my mummy is certainly one for romance, she isn’t one to delve into the sex-lives of her children. You can therefore imagine my surprise when we opened a gold-colored box containing a jar of (disgusting) chocolate body frosting! Naughty, naughty mom. It goes without saying that the scent and flavor of this chocolate “body frosting” left much to be desired. We ended up using it to make some festive finger-paintings on the tiled shower wall and vowed never to make one another taste it. Body products, we decided, should not be made of chocolate.

And then I got this job. Lo and behold, we carry chocolate body paints made by Kama Sutra (the Kama Sutra Lover’s Paintbox and they are pretty freaking delicious; not Godvia, mind you, but far better than Hershey’s. Then Kama Sutra up and decided to send me a sample of their newest version of their massage cream, and big surprise, it’s called the Kama Sutra Body Souffle in Chocolate Creme Brulee. I waited a few days before opening it, fearing for the worst. But when I pulled off the lid of the creamy lotion inside, I was met with the scent of brownie batter! Yum! Resisting the urge to stick my finger into the lotion and lick it clean, I spread a fingertip of lotion across the back of my hand and rubbed it in. The cream melted into my skin, leaving it silky and smooth, not at all sticky like I had anticipated. Lowering my mouth to my hand, I dabbed the skin with just the point of my tongue and tasted sweet butteriness. While not as filling as eating brownies, this Body Souffle makes a terrific massage lotion that leaves a kissable, lickable trail of yumminess down the skin of your lover, without any of the calories or guilt (unless you have internalized guilt about giving sexy massages, then well, we can’t help you). I’ve been converted. Dessert, anyone?

Jack Jelly Masturbation Lube

Jack Jelly Masturbation Lube

Remember how if felt when you discovered that jerking off with mayonnaise (insert other goopy material here: lotion, conditioner, eye make-up remover from your older sister’s bathroom drawer . . .) felt way, way better than knuckling your bare sausage? Designed to wet your skinsicle in a familiar way without inhibiting your ability to make tasty sandwiches later (save the mayo for the turkey clubs, men!), Jack Jelly Masturbation Lube runs with the idea of slippery goodness meant for your member and improves upon household aids. Made from an oil-base, this lube feels like a loose gel when scooped from the tub but quickly rubs into long-lasting slick oil that can outlast even your meaty grip. Less lotion-like than the likes of Stroke 29 or Mens Cream, this gel has more bite and grip so you can feel your cock as you stroke yourself off into an orgasmic high. It wipes off when you are done with a tissue, leaving no scent and your skin feeling uncharacteristically moisturized. If only they could invent something to take the trash out while you spent time with your Jack Jelly . . . now that would be something!
