The new lube craze sweeping through the tank (aka Blowfish HQ) is Sliquid. And, while our suppliers are slipping and sliding and falling all over themselves in a comically hurried manner to fill the huge number of orders, I went and brought on yet another Sliquid option for all your lubey needs.

Now our Sliquid Swirl Flavored Lubricant comes in a new, Blue Raspberry flavor! Those of you who liked the idea of flavored Sliquid, but weren’t crazy about the ice cream parlor associations of Cherry Vanilla can now get all tarted up with a more sophisticated fruity taste. Blue Raspberry is also sweetened with a touch of aspartame (the same stuff that makes most of your diet sodas sweet), but has that delightful sharp tartness to the flavor as it plays over the tongue. Neither flavor is that overpowering, however — the folks at Sliquid are just giving you a bit of sensory counterpoint to the amazing slipperiness of their formula. Great for oral sex, or for regular sex where you stop and mix in some oral sex later, or just to add a bit of variety in your lube.

A few of you are still wondering, why the Sliquid mania? It’s a glycerine-free, water-based lube that stays slippery a loooonnng time. You can use it with latex, rubber, and silicone (as well as stuff like metal and glass of course). This week I’m featuring two new products that were so immediately popular they sold out before I could even feature them here in the update. We finally have stock back in on these hot ticket items, but at the rate they’ve been going I wouldn’t dawdle before you get yours.

It’s not really that surprising that the Sliquid H2O Water-Based Lubricant sold out so quickly. This water-based, water soluble lube stays slick for a very long time, and once it dries out you can re-wet it with a lingering kiss, making it very convenient. And if you’re wrinkling your nose at the thought of the taste of re-wetting lube this way, rest assured that Sliquid H2O is absolutely without flavor, making it simply ideal for oral sex.

But what’s really so remarkable about this lube is that it does NOT have glycerine, parabens, or fragrances mucking it up like a lot of other lubes on the market do. So, you may have noticed that our Flavored lube selection has been dwindling over the years. And that’s actually because we care. For the most part, the glycerine or sugars used to make flavored lubes sweet have caused some irritation in the vagina, and UTIs or yeast infections are just NOT sexy.

However, there is one exception we’ve found to this unfortunate rule, and that’s why we’re so happy to have Sliquid Swirl Flavored Lubricant back in our catalog. It’s the one flavored lube we’ve found that doesn’t use these irritating things — just a touch of aspartame (aka Nutra-sweet) sweetens the formula without the scary sugar side-effects.

Just because it’s an artificial sweetener doesn’t mean that the taste is fake — the yummy cherry-vanilla taste is mild enough not to overpower your taste buds, but tasty enough that we were passing around the testing packets like teenagers with a bottle of whipped cream. There’s a very slight chemical aftertaste from the aspartame, but it’s so slight that even the sugar-junkies barely noticed it.

Now let’s talk about silicone lube. As many of you already know, silicone lube is just about the slipperiest stuff on the planet, and even though you can’t use it with silicone toys (the silicones bond together and ruin the toy — trust me on this), it’s awesome for other materials (say, oh, that glass butt-plug I was just going on about), for regular ol’ in-and-out sex, for vaginal dryness (which happens not only in menopausal women, but also after pregnancy and sometimes certain times of the month), or even to shave your legs with it (no kidding!).

But what’s the downside, you ask? Well, most silicone lubes are, to put it delicately, a bitch to clean up. Silicone is not water-soluble, and when your lube has a very high silicone content, that means it’s not easy to clean. Thank goodness someone thought of a hybrid formula! [Supplies] Good Clean Love All-Natural Love Oil

So, the idea behind Good Clean Love All-Natural Love Oil, if you’re curious (and I certainly was) is that these essential oils open up the limbic side of the brain, making you more receptive to amorous activities and more likely to like those who are wearing them. They smell different on everyone, too, so it’s your own body chemistry combined with the oil that’s sending out the signals — I like to think of it as makeup for your pheromones. It’s still you, but enhanced.

Naturally, the first thing we did with testers was to run about the tank (Blowfishie offices) rubbing it on everyone’s wrists and sniffing one another. And, yes, it does smell different on everyone, though the fragrances always smelled good. As to whether it made everyone like everyone else even more, well, we all get along really well here anyway, but it was a very relaxed, fun afternoon after that (though running around sniffing your coworkers like a pack of puppies does tend to lend a mirthful air to one’s work environment).

Rubbing it on my husband, however, definitely brought out the more, er, amorous, effect of these oils. Something about his familiar, loving smell combined with the heady cinnamon scent of the India Spice scent made him nearly irresistible.

The kit comes with three scents — Caribbean Rose (Essential Formula: Frankincense, Vetiver, Rose-Geranium, Rose-Maroc), a light rose scent that’s sassy enough not to remind you of your grandmother, the afore-mentioned Indian Spice scent (Essential Formula: Cardamom, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Cinnamon and Clove Bud), which is earthy enough for a man to wear while still bringing to mind the exotic (and erotic), and the light fruity goodness that is the Origins scent (Essential Formula: Sandalwood, Clary Sage, Black Pepper and Ylang-ylang). Their scent is nice and strong at first, though it does fade over time (a few hours later you can hardly smell it at all), so it’s not exactly a perfume, even though they smell good enough to wear all day long.

Please note that while these are safe for use as internal lubrication, they are not latex compatible. Also not recommended for use during pregnancy.
