If you want to push your boundaries, get inspired, or just get really, really turned on for Valentine’s Day, you should check out the latest installment of our award-winning Crash Pad series: Crash Pad Series, Volume 5: The Revolving Door! The Crash Pad series started out as a feature film from indie queer porn director extraordinaire Shine Louise Houston, and then jumped to a web-based series, several volumes of which have been released on DVD. It’s pretty much the gold standard for sex-positive queer porn, with a large umbrella that covers most flavors of lesbianism, transgender, and kinky sexuality, all with great panache and authenticity.
Volume 5 has (coincidentally) five scenes, with a cast of new faces and returning favorites. The Crash Pad of the title is an apartment where an ever-shifting cast of sexually adventurous couples (and occasional groups) come to push the limits of their own fuckability, all watched over by the hidden cameras of the mysterious voyeuristic Shine — the premise, pretty much, is that you’re seeing secret-camera footage of trysts-in-progress. It’s a good and versatile set-up that’s filled a handful of DVDs already, and could go on for the indefinite foreseeable future.
This one opens up with some dripping birthday-candle wax and light bondage between August and the lovely femme Stacy Staxxx, followed by some strap-on riding and lovely doggystyle fucking; it’s a great scene, though the dialogue was a bit hard to hear, at least on my review copy. Still, even watching it with the sound off, you get the general idea — it’s a very nice birthday party.
I also liked trans leather daddy Kuma topping the hell out of the bodacious Julie Warren — any scene that involves floggers and canes and a rough strap-on blowjob has a certain intrinsic appeal. The most surprising scene was the closer, with Shawn (also known, in her toppier roles, as Syd Blackovich) in a scene with an actual bio-guy, Mickey Mod — though don’t expect an uncomplicated and straightforward gender setup here. Mickey sucks Shawn’s big fake cock about as much as she sucks his real one, and honestly, if they had a wrestling match, I’d put my money on Shawn. There’s some cowgirl riding and some in-your-face mutual masturbation (literally — she crouches over him and jills off in his face while he rubs one out himself). The other scenes are good, too — overall, there’s more edgy hot queer sex than you can shake a dick at.
The Crash Pad continues to push limits, boundaries, and the proverbial envelope in its depiction of authentic, complicated queer porn. Let’s hope Shine has a hundred-year lease on the place. May its doors stay open forever.

There’s something about Erotic Comics that is just so hot. Maybe it’s the visual combined with the literary, the way a good artist/ writer team can focus your attention on a hot little detail that you might have missed otherwise. If you’ve been meaning to pick up an erotic comic but have no idea where to start, or if you’re a longtime fan and want to collect old favorites while getting ideas for new titles, this is the book for you. Best Erotic Comics 2008 has a bit of everything: vanilla to extremely kinky, gay to straight, romantically touching to emotionally troubling and pretty much anything else you can think of. Edited by former Blowfishie Greta Christina, the selection is eclectic and absolutely top notch; every single piece here is sizzling hot but full of literary merit; your time is well-spent wanking, er, reading over these brilliant graphic stories. Two fins up!

Attention all Omaha fans! The second volume of The Complete Omaha the Cat Dancer is here. For those of you who aren’t familiar, Omaha is a cat (well, cat with a very womanly body) who is renowned as one of the best exotic dancers around. In the first volume, she meets the tom cat of her dreams, but ends up having to flee her hometown’s corrupt government for San Francisco. The second volume is even wilder, with kidnapping, plot twists and intrigue that would make any daytime soap opera proud, and some very hot, somewhat scandalous, sex. Omaha the Cat Dancer was, and probably still is, the most banned comic book ever (apparently, the authorities simply can’t deal with its combination of great art, a coherent, mature story line, and lots of hot sex that has a great deal to do with the plot). Don’t miss out on the continuing adventures of Omaha and her friends. If you only buy one graphic novel, we strongly recommend this one.

About a month ago I brought on Room Mates Vol. 1 and talked about how I never dated my roommate’s friends. Well, things heat up even more in Room Mates Vol. 2, and it makes me wonder what would have happened if I’d gone spelunking in my roommate’s bedroom late at night, mmmm . . . Ahem, where was I? Ah, yes. Aside from some intra-roommate mating habits, Room Mates, Vol. 2 has the male roomie, Sebastian, fucking lots and lots of other girls — and pretty much all of them up the butt (whether they want it or not; don’t worry, it’s a theme in the comic and therefore ART, right?). And Teresa gets some girl-on-girl action as well. Overall, I think this one’s a tad bit hotter than the first. Just don’t leave it on the coffee table unless you want your roommates to think you’re hinting at taking things to the next level.

Blowfish urges everyone reading this to support the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, and help with their defense of Gordon Lee:
For nearly three years the Fund has defended Georgia retailer Gordon Lee, seeing him through multiple arraignments and procedures, and racking up $80,000 in legal bills. The charges stem from a Halloween 2004 incident in which Lee handed out, among other free comics, an anthology featuring an excerpt from the critically acclaimed graphic novel The Salon. The segment depicted a historically accurate meeting between 20th Century art icons Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso, the latter depicted in the nude. It was a harmless sequence, no more explicit than the nudity displayed in the award winning Watchmen. Yet because the title found its way into the hands of a minor, Floyd County prosecutors hit Lee with two felony counts and five misdemeanors. The Fund eventually knocked out most of the charges, but must now defeat the two remaining misdemeanor counts of Distribution of Harmful to Minors Material, each carrying a penalty of up to one year in prison and up to $1,000 in fines.

This week’s new comic, Room Mates Vol. 1, makes me wonder if I wasn’t missing something back when I had to share an apartment with two other 20 somethings. They had cute friends, sure, but I tried to do my sex-partner-hunting elsewhere to keep things kosher in the household. Thank goodness the characters in Room Mates aren’t so annoyingly moral! The girls throw a party in hopes of meeting their new male roommate’s hot friends (aka “fresh meat to fuck”).
