[Books] Spanked

Spanked

I suppose there might be some folks out there who do not understand the joy that is a good spanking (either giving or receiving) but I know many of you out there really, really do. A good spanking story can really put you in the mood (or remind you of spankier parts of your day), so a collection of such stories, such as in the anthology Spanked, is a must-have for spanking aficionados. Edited by the talented Rachel Kramer Bussel, Spanked is full of tales of tails being slapped to a pretty pink color. From begging for a spanking in a hayloft during a thunderstorm to a true punishment spanking that satisfies all parties, these stories find wonderfully delightful ways to get their spank on. Well-written by folks who clearly get it, these stories will leave you wet or hard and panting for a good spanking yourself.

[Books] Rubber Sex

Rubber Sex

You don’t just see bondage and leather at the Folsom Street Fair. You see a lot of what I like to call “the squeaky set” there as well. There’s something about a hot body tightly encased in skin-tight, well-fitted PVC, latex or rubber that is stunning (and arousing) to regard, and the authors of Rubber Sex are no strangers to this fact. From hard-ons outlined in tight rubber to the ease of cleaning off a thoroughly drenched PVC panty, the reality of squeaky hot rubber sex is beautifully bent over, prodded, examined and punished in this hot hot hot anthology. Just like the skintight materials it fetishizes, this anthology covers nearly everything while hiding nothing.

[Books] Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships

Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships

Most of the poly (that is, loving more than one person at a time) people I know did their poly-training-time while clutching a copy of The Ethical Slut. When it was handed to me, (way back when I was trying everything for the first time, it seemed) I was told to skip the first part because it was “too new agey” and might turn me off. And, while I love, love, love my old copy of The Ethical Slut (even if it does still fall open to the section on jealousy), there is that danger that the person you’re trying to help cut their poly teeth will not relate to that section of the book.

But this is poly we’re talking about here, and one of the things I love about poly is that one person doesn’t have to contain every quality you’d desire in a lover. The same is true for books, which is why I can share my love with Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships by Tristan Taormino. Written in a clear, non-new-agey style, Opening Up is fun to read, but is still full of all the serious information you need to guide you into the world of loving more than one person at a time. From deciding if an open relationship is for you to how to create and sustain such relationships, any issue that comes up can be looked up easily and is discussed in a thorough, clear fashion. And it’s peppered throughout with stories from real-life poly folk, which is both entertaining and reassuring (no, no, you’re not the only one who has felt this way). And don’t miss the beginning where Taormino gives a very well-researched, fascinating history of all types of marriages. Opening up is an excellent secondary (or primary, if you’ve never read The Ethical Slut) reference on the art of open relationships.

[Books] Looker

Looker

Like to peek at pretty girls? OK, you don’t, but do you like the idea of peeking at pretty girls? Thanks to Richard Kern’s new picture book, Looker, you can get your voyeur on without resorting to creepy peeping techniques. Kern hired very naturally beautiful models and followed them around, photographing them doing daily tasks as if he were a voyeur. We’re assuming that these models don’t usually flash so much nipple, panty, and so forth in their daily lives, as Kern captures all the good stuff, in such tantalizingly small, yet clear, glimpses as to give the whole book a very real feel — the distance, the angles, the bit of foilage in the foreground all make the viewer feel as if they were the ones peeking at these lovely women. Truly a beautiful and effective work of art, Looker fills that naughty urge to peek without the risk of upsetting anyone at all.

[Books] Aqua Erotica: 18 Stories for a Steamy Bath

Aqua Erotica: 18 Stories for a Steamy Bath

It’s summertime, which means time to catch up on your summer reading! Whether we’re taking a vacation or a staycation, chances are most of us will head to a pool, lake, ocean or other body of water. After cooling off in the water, it’s time to lay back and relax with a good book. Well, now you don’t have to get out of the water to start reading! We have not one, not two, but three different waterproof anthologies of erotica just waiting for you to splash, pour your drink on, or drop in the pool (accidentally, of course). Aqua Erotica: 18 Stories for a Steamy Bath and Wet: More Aqua Erotica were both edited by Mary Anne Mohanraj and contain some of the best writing we’ve seen in erotica. Those of you looking for story first and steamy second (though it has that too) will want to pick up these engrossing collections of tales. Want more smut, less plot? The kinkier set will appreciate Aqua Erotica 2: 12 Stories/ No Boundaries (edited by Melcher Media). With some seriously naughty stories, this book is still well-written, just . . . steamier. No matter which you choose, these silky waterproof pages mean that you can read without worry by (or in!) the body of water of your choice.

[Books] Tranceptor, Book One: The Way Station

Tranceptor, Book One: The Way Station

Combining the talents of author Patrick Conlon and artist Michael Manning, Tranceptor, Book One: The Way Station introduced us to the industrial wastelands of a post-apocalyptic world, and the (extremely kinky) folks who live there. Done in Manning’s exquisite black-and-white artistic style, the pony girls and leather-clad dominatrixes corrupt deliciously naive miners. The first volume came out ten years ago and left many of us panting for more. Now, finally, we have TTranceptor, Book Two: Iron Gauge, Part One in our dirty little paws! One tranceptor puts a worker through some delightfully wicked trials while the other rests her ponygirls while testing out her local guide’s other talents. Hot, hot, hot! This long-awaited sequel answers some questions, but leaves the reader hungry for more of this kinktastic world. I can only hope they don’t make us wait another decade to find out what happens next!
