Books for Valentine’s Day!
While I don’t want to discourage you from buying fun new toys to titillate your lover on Valentine’s Day, I encourage you not to forget their greatest erotic organ: the brain. Why not give them something naughty to get their mind in the mood (as well as their juices flowing)? With that in mind, I’ve put together a list of books that would make a great Valentine’s Day treat.
1) Erotic by Nature: They say that men are more visual than women, but I still find this collection of erotic photos arousing! Featuring some of the best sex photographers in the business, it includes pictures of and by women and men, hetero, bi, and gay, and is explicit without being tawdry, sweet and loving without being sugary or boring.
2) Luscious: Stories of Anal Eroticism: If you like it up the bum, trust me, you’re not alone. This anthology is packed full of stories about every kind of butt sex you can think of! And if your honey will only indulge you once a year in such things, well, these extremely hot little stories certainly can’t help but put you both in the mood!
3) Bondage for Sex: Glossy, full-color photos that nearly make this book double as a picture book are what you’ll be looking at here to figure out your knots. This one is especially nice for Valentine’s Day, since every position is designed so that you can still have sex while tied up! Breathtakingly lovely, extremely useful . . . what’s knot to love?
4) Whipped: 20 Erotic Stories of Female Dominance: If you need a little more inspiration once your honey is tied, up, check out this anthology of kinky stories. The writing is top-notch and the experience of reading these stories . . . well, they certainly raised my temperature, they’re so steamy! Just remember to toss out the crappy DVD or use it as a coaster. I can’t recommend this book enough. So. Hot.
5) The Cunt Coloring Book: Nothing says “I love you” better than proving to your honey you know where her clit is. This collection of different drawings of vulvas is just the thing to break in your new crayons on. I suggest coloring in different colors and making a key to favorite technique in various areas, but the possibilities are endless!
6) Charlotte Webb’s Pillow Book: The phrase “pillow book” has come to mean a collection of erotic works — stories, poetry, images and even comix — gathered together in a small book which you can keep under or near your pillow. From tight-laced Victorian erotica to seriously kinky comics, there’s surely something here that will arouse your lover. Slip it under the pillow for late-night inspiration.
7) Erotic Images & Alphabets (w/CD-ROM): If you’re crafty like me, you simply can’t have with giving your honey a store-bought card. However, I can’t really draw worth a damn, either, which makes illustrating my card a real challenge. Luckily, I have a copy of Erotic Images & Alphabets, which is full of naughty images of all sorts which are free to use for my own (non-commercial) projects. There’s even a free CD-ROM (which says it works on Mac and Windows) with the images, making it easier to use them. Finally something other than lopsided hearts for my sweetie!
8) Fetish Sex: An Erotic Guide for Couples: If you’re planning on indulging your lover in her fetish for your feet this February 14th, consider reading up on all things fetish first. This book by Violet Blue tackles the tricky task of telling your honey about what really gets you going, and does a great job of discussing nearly every fetish under the sun. I found this book far more arousing than your typical resource book, not only because of the instructions on how to create a hot scene but also the bonus erotic stories by kinkmaster Thomas Roche. A great book for exploring your own fetishes or even just expanding your fantasies.
9) The Adventurous Couple’s Guide to Sex Toys: If that saucy toy buyer has convinced you to try a fun new sex toy for the first time, why not get a book to talk you through some ideas on how to use it? Aimed specifically at couples looking to spice up their sex life with a little help from some friendly toys, this book is full of sensible information on nearly every aspect of toy play you can think of. And the whole thing is written by Violet Blue, so you know it’s well written and full of info you can trust.
10) Erotic Cinema: While we have a plethora of porn ready to turn you on, if you’re looking for something a bit more R rated, this book will help you figure out which flicks to rent. The pictures are what really make this book, with stills of the naughty bits from dozens and dozens of different movies from 1893 onwards. It’s even divided by sexual act, so you and your puddin’ can find a movie that will really do it for you.
